To complement my training journal, I have decided to also keep a food journal, documenting what I’m eating, what supplements I’m taking, amounts of protein and total calories consumed each day.

I realise this could get tedious…but will endeavor to keep it up!

Pre-workout meal

Two scoops of Whey Protein powder, mixed with water and two bananas blended in to make a nice chocolate-banana flavoured protein shake. Roughly 400 calories and 40 grams of protein.

Post-workout meal

Half a baguette with chicken tikka pieces for the filling from Tesco. No butter or margarine, just bread and meat! Most likely about 400 calories in the bread and 200 in the meat, giving a total of 600 calories and 40 grams of protein.

Lunch

The other half of the baguette with mexican fajita pieces for the filling, again from Tesco. With margarine this time, so a few extra calories and fats there (though it was Bertolli olive spread so fairly healthy). Roughly 650 calories and 40 grams of protein.

Mid afternoon snack

Slice of homemade banoffi pie, half a banana and cream on top, making this a very healthy and low calorie snack, not! Roughly 500 calories and neglible protein.

Dinner

Roast chicken, sausages, bacon, stuffing, vegetables, potatoes and gravy. Only had two potatoes, lots of meat, lots of veg and some gravy. Would guess 800 calories and 40 grams of protein.

Bedtime shake

Two scoops of whey protein powder, mixed with skimmed milk, giving a total of 400 calories and 45 grams of protein.

Daily totals

Calories: 3,350
Protein (grams): 205
