Training Journal: Friday 27th February 2009
Friday - leg workout
My leg workout today is the last workout I’ll be doing for a week as I’m taking a week off next week. I’m not off on holiday or anything exciting, just having a week off training to give the body a bit of time off to recover.
Leg press
I did a few warmup sets on the leg press, 100kg x 12, 120kg x 12 and 140kg x 12 before going into my proper sets. Unfortunately, I only managed one set heavy as I felt a twinge in my groin, and decided it was best to stop. I only managed one set of 160kg for 10 reps. It’s probably a good thing that I’ve decided to take a week off next week, my body is obviously telling me that I need to take a week off!
Quad extensions
I managed to do my leg extensions regardless of the twinge I felt in my groin. I managed three good sets:
- 65kg x 10 reps
- 65kg x 10 reps
- 65kg x 10 reps
I really should try and do this exercise heavy duty style, maybe after my week off I will do, drop the weight by ten kilos and aim for 9 seconds per rep.
Hamstring curls
I upped the weight a bit on my hamstring curls from last week, in a way I wished I hadn’t because I only managed three poor sets:
- 65kg x 6
- 65kg x 6
- 65kg x 6
That was it for leg workout, not very good really in all, I left the gym feeling like I could have had a better workout. Nevermind, I’ve got a week off next week, time to recharge my batteries and come up with some new ideas for workouts and nurtition that I will be writing about once I’m back in the gym.
