Training Journal: Sunday 1st February 2009

Sunday - run

I look forward to my Sunday morning run, and today was no exception. I’d been feeling a bit down in the dumps over the previous day, even though I’d had a good HIIT session, I still couldn’t help feeling a bit gloomy. I guess it’s just uncertainty about the future and wanting to get a few loose ends tied up.

Today was a bitterly cold day, thankfully not too windy, but cold enough to warrant my red fleece hat and gloves, and I even considered wearing tracksuit bottoms rather than shorts!

I just went for a 3.6 mile run down the lanes today, had my iPod on, listening to a mixture of Guns’n'roses, Metallica and Iron Maiden - I like listening to rock and metal when I’m training, I guess it’s the fast pace - just the better tracks that put me in a good mood. My run took a total of 34 minutes, which is good, because that’s just under a 10 minute mile pace, not that I’m training for any runs, but nice to know that my fitness is improving.

I think there is something to be said for the creatine that I’ve been taking, during my run I felt full of energy and stamina. I guess some of this is down to me getting fitter, but I also feel like the run this week felt much easier than last week. I’ve done three running sessions since last Sunday’s run, all aided by the creatine, which makes me think it’s having a positive effect on my fitness. Good stuff, I have another seven weeks before I have to take a week off, then I’ll be right back on it!
