Taurine Benefits

Taurine is widely referred to as an amino acids, and is mostly sold to bodybuilders as such, but is in fact not strictly speaking an amino acid, according to WikiPedia, it is an amino sulfonic acid, which is slightly different to an amino acid.

It is known as Taurine because it was first isolated from a bull’s bile, by a German scientist in 1827. It is widely found in mammals, usually in the bile or lower intestines.

Benefits:

  • Possible prevention of obesity
  • Anti-oxidant benefits
  • Prevent oxidative stress post workout (fighting free radicals)
  • Reduce blood pressure
  • Reduce anxiety
  • Improve concentration
  • Expands muscle cell size

As you can see from these benefits it makes sense to supplement with Taurine, regardless of whether you are a bodybuilder, fitness enthusiast or couch potato!

If you are a bodybuilder or fitness athlete, it makes sense to supplement with Taurine as it acts in a similar way to creatine, expanding muscle cell size, boosting hydration and stimulating protein synthesis.
