Dymatize Elite Whey Protein Isolate Review
I’ve recently purchased a 2.25kg tub of Dymatize Elite Whey Protein from my favourite supplements website, DiscountSupplementsGuide.com. I’ve always wanted to try the Dymatize protein shakes because they promote their brand as being a superior product, and as such I figured they protein shake would be better quality than some of the other brands I’ve used, such as My Protein and Holland & Barrett’s Body Fortress.
When the tub arrived it looked really good, the packaging is of a different standard to other protein products I’ve used. The lid is clearly custom made for Dymatize as it has the branding embossed onto it - that must be expensive in itself!
The picture of what the shake looks like on the side of the tub is really appetising, it looks really thick and creamy, just like a shake in a restaurant or diner. When I opened the lid, the smell that came out was quite nice, chocolate, but washed out if you see what I mean.
I made my first shake today, as I normally do at breakfast, I put in a banana and 2/3rds of a pint of milk, semi skimmed. I blend this up for about a minute, until it’s all blended together nicely. The end result was a very creamy tasting, but a bit thin, with a real great chocolate taste to it. There was no bitter aftertaste as you can sometimes get with artificial sweeteners, the shake went down very well. I would mark this 8/10!

I enjoy the taste, but I do find it a bit wishy washy, it’s not as thick as Boditronics Express Whey which is my current favourite!

I’ll have to try Dymatize. I usually stick with the ON Gold Standard.

I used to use Elite Whey (The Rich Choc) a lot but heard via a reliable source that the label claims were underdosed and didnt contain as much protein as it should do. I can highly recommend Gaspari Myofusion, very tasty indeed.

I doubt the label claims are fictitious, I’ve been looking into building a supplements business and as such have seen the manufacturing process of a large contract manufacturer based in the UK. They do everything by the book, and also, when you consider that whey protein powder bought in bulk costs about £3/kilo, why would you bother scrimping on it to save a few pence per tub? There’s plenty of margin on a tub of protein that it doesn’t make sense to risk any negative publicity to your brand by making a saving a few pence per kilo does it…?

I’m currently using ‘Mammoth 2500′ which I’ve found very good, it is a few quid cheaper then the one you’ve used but seems similar (I’m a newbie to supplements may be wrong). I originally tried a York supplement first time round, and it was awful!

Who makes Mammoth 2500? I’ve never heard of it, does it taste nice? The best tasting protein shake I’ve tried is easily Boditronice Express Whey Cookies’n'Cream, it really does taste like a milkshake made with Oreo’s, delicious!

It’s made by a company called ‘Interactive Nutrition’, yes it tastes fine actually, I’ve got chocolate flavour, very easy to drink. I’ve nearly used it all so looking to order more supplement, but think will try something else out. From what I’ve read although the Mammoth is cheaper you seem to get what you pay for, apparently it is only 18% Protein (mainly egg, with whey protein concentrate) and the rest is basically sugar. So going to maybe try something more expensive, with lower sugar in it!

Yeah you really should be looking at something that’s got a much higher protein content and I wouldn’t waste money on “mass gaining” supplements, most of them are just a bit of protein with dextrose (refined sugar) or maltodextrin added. Both of these are very simple carbs which will give you an insulin spike, which will lead you to lay down bodyfat - probably not what you’re looking for…
Better to go for a protein shake and get your carbs from fruits/vegetables, therefore ensure it’s all low GI and good for you. If you need more calories, get them from protein & fats rather than eating junk carbs!

Oh, year, have a look on my other website:
http://www.discountsupplementsguide.com
It’s basically a price comparison website for supplements, it doesn’t have all the supplements but quite a few!

This sounds interesting. I think I may have to try it! We have more protein in our diet.

You should try adding some vanilla or chocolate ice cream to it it help thicken it up and makes it taste even better plus you get the added protein.

Great post! I’ve always been a very bag fan of Dymatize Whey! I think your review was spot on and a great help to anyone interested in picking up a whey. It’s nice to get some good honest insight rather than the typical marketing machines.
Great work!

I have to say, I was pretty disappointed in the flavor of Dymatize Elite.

My favorite whey protein powder is Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard. It is simply whey protein with little else added to it, no fat, no carbs. The problem is every company markets their products as being superior to others but the fact is they are almost all the same. The thing you want to look out for when purchasing a whey protein product is a)the type of whey (isolate, concentrate, or hydrolyzed) b)amount of fat and carbohydrates c)amino acid profile. A good whey protein powder should mainly be made up isolates, and should contain little or no fat or carbs and should have a complete amino acid profile (added BCAA’s is a plus). Now, some companies throw in pinches of other things such as creatine or some other stuff, but never enough to have any kind of positive effect. So the bottom line you should buy something that is affordable.

Very nice and informative article, let me share my fitness story with dear readers. I used to be very fit and athlete, but with the passage of time I became lazy and developed a habit of eating and sleeping along with no exercise. Which deposited around 25 - 30 Kilo of fat into my stomach, face, legs and all over my body? Everyday when I looked in the mirror I had thought today I will start exercising, which was clearly a false promising to myself, again with the passage of time I realized now enough is enough I have to do something to get rid of this fat. So I stepped on to the thread mill and started running 40 Minutes everyday at 9 Miles per hour. Right after finishing a marathon every day I then take the free weight and start building my shoulders and biceps, chest and etc. 3 Days continues exercise and 2 days rest which continued over the period of 3 months and I have now lost 22 Kilo of fat and I have started to look young and energetic once again. I recommend everyone who is facing the same symptoms of fatness try to get fit, it is really easy and not difficult at all. Thank you
