Creatine Monohydrate
Creatine is a substance that is found naturally in the human body, it can be manufactured in the liver, kidney’s and pancreas. It is used by our bodies as a method for replenishing energy in the muscles. This is useful for anyone wishing to improve their performance in any sport, as it will allow them to train or in fact perform for longer.
Creatine works by acting as a supply of phophates that can be quickly transferred to ATP. ATP (adenosine triphosphate) transports chemical energy within the muscles, breaking down to release energy for muscle contraction. It is once broken down that ATP needs a fresh supply of phosphates, which a creatine supplement helps by increasing the amount of creatine phosphate storage level within the muscles.
Creatine is widely used by body builders as it allows them to train harder during each set, thus increasing the intensity of each set, by increasing the number of reps achieved before muscle failure. Although creatine is widely found in meat and fish, it has been shown in studies that the body can make use of far more creatine than could be injested from food alone.
