Leg (hamstring) curls
Most gyms will also have a hamstring curl machine. It works in the same way as the quad extension machine, except it works the hamstrings at the back of the legs rather than the quads at the front of the legs. Again, as with quads, the machine will probably allow you to set it up so that you are exercising the muscle for the longest range of movement as possible. This will put extra strain on the tendons, but will stimulate more muscle fibres, so be careful as it’s no good tearing a tendon in pursuit of bigger muscles.
